Sunlighten Infrared sauna
Sunlighten’s proprietary technology, Solocarbon®, is the only infrared sauna heater on the market clinically shown to raise core temperature nearly 3 degrees. What does this mean for your health? It means you will experience the most detoxifying sweat, help lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and it will aid in weight loss through waistline reduction.
The natural healing comes from the ability of Infrared to penetrate human tissue. This helps your body get back into balance in a number of ways:
Detox: Far infrared causes a rise in core temperature resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level. In a Sunlighten sauna an average person sweats out 20% toxins and 80% water versus a conventional sauna where it is only 3% toxins and 97% water.
Weight loss: Studies have shown that an infrared sauna therapy session can burn upwards of 600 calories while you relax! As the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories.
Relaxation: Infrared is a gentle, soothing and therapeutic heat that promotes relaxation and improved sleep.
Pain relief: Infrared heat penetrates tissue, joints, and muscles to relieve anything from minor aches and pains to chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, and speeds up recovery time.
Skin rejuvenation and anti-aging: Studies have shown improvements in skin appearance after just 12 weeks of sauna skin therapy using near-infrared technology. This included a reduction in wrinkles and crow’s feet as well as improved overall skin tone including smoothness, elasticity, clarity and firmness.
Cell health: Infrared sauna therapy stimulates the circulatory system and more fully oxygenate the body’s cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins flow from the cellular level to the skin’s surface to improve cell health, aid in muscle recovery and strengthen the immune system.
Improved circulation and blood pressure reduction: Sunlighten saunas increase blood flow, similar to in exercise. Regular infrared sauna use can significantly stimulate blood flow up to twice the normal rate. Scientific evidence shows using an infrared sauna a couple times a week lowers blood pressure.
Amy’s infrared sauna protocol:
Heat up the infrared sauna to between 50 - 55°C. I typically have a 35 - 45 min sauna so it can get up to around 65°C.
Dry skin brush for 3-5 minutes (brush towards the heart) to get my lymph flowing nicely.
Hydrate adequately prior to entering (large glass of filtered water with a scoop of electrolytes). I’ll then sip water throughout the session.
I typically go in my “birthday suit”, however swim suit is fine. The more skin you expose the better.
While in the sauna I typically meditate, do breathwork, tapping/EFT, stretch, and listen to relaxation music. Sometimes I listen to a favourite podcast or TV show.
Every 10 minutes I towel off sweat to avoid toxins being reabsorbed.
When finished I’ll have another glass of filtered water, a complex mineral supplement (to replace any lost minerals), and a binder like chlorella to help mop up any toxins.
Lastly I’ll have an alternative hot and cold shower. This is a great way to pump out all of the toxins and waste materials that your blood collects during your session, and filter it through the organs.
