Infrared saunas aren't just a wellness trend. After years of using one with clients and on myself, here's what actually happens to your body and why it works.

Real self-care isn't selfish. It's the foundation that makes everything else in your life possible.

To be successful at weight loss and the prevention of weight gain, it is vital that you find ways to manage stress. Otherwise, you leave yourself open to some of the negative effects of stress. In my case, long-term stress led to a lowered immune system, which in turn made me susceptible to everything, including chronic fatigue syndrome.

Your body has its own brilliant detoxification system. The problem is, modern life has overwhelmed it. Heavy metals, glyphosate, mould, plastics, and a hundred other everyday toxins are now showing up in our bodies at levels our liver, kidneys, and lymphatic system were never designed to handle.
An ionic detox footbath is one of the tools I use to support that system. It doesn't replace your body's natural detox pathways. It enhances them.
An ionic footbath works through a process called electrolysis. A small electrical current passes through a tub of water (salt is added for conductivity), splitting water molecules into positively and negatively charged ions. Your body, which is mostly water and electrolytes, conducts that current too.
Those ions interact with your body in two ways:
At the feet. Oppositely charged toxins are drawn out through the pores in your skin.
Internally. The current moves through your body and helps mobilise toxins, which are then released through urine, stool, and sweat in the days that follow.
In fact, most of the detoxification happens internally, not in the tub. Research cited by Dr Dietrich Klinghardt has shown significant increases in heavy metals like aluminium being excreted in urine for days after a single session.
The machine I use alternates between positive and negative charges. Each charge pulls out different toxins:
Single-polarity machines only do half the job. Dual polarity gives your body access to a fuller spectrum of detoxification.
This is the question I get asked most.
Yes, the water changes colour. No, colour alone is not the measure of how much you've detoxed. Some of the colour comes from the electrolysis reaction itself.
That said, what you see can offer clues. Light coloured bubbles and foam often indicate yeast or candida being released. Very pale water at the end of a session can suggest your detox pathways are sluggish and need more support before they can let go properly.
What you feel in the days afterwards matters far more than what you see in the tub. Your energy, sleep, clarity, and mood are the real indicators.
Generating ions in water is simple. You can do it with a 9-volt battery and two wires. What separates a cheap machine from a quality clinical one is the frequencies it produces.
The right frequencies put your body into a parasympathetic state, your rest, digest, and repair mode. This is the state your body needs to be in for detoxification to actually happen.
The wrong frequencies create stress in the body and shut detox pathways down. This is why some people feel worse after using cheap machines, not better.
Pairing your footbath with gentle binders and metal chelators amplifies the results. Two of my favourites:
Both have their own metal-binding properties and help carry mobilised toxins out of the body so they don't simply recirculate.
If you're dealing with chronic fatigue, brain fog, hormonal imbalance, or autoimmune symptoms, an ionic footbath can be a powerful addition to your healing protocol. It's also valuable if you know you've been exposed to mould, heavy metals, or environmental toxins.
It's not a magic bullet. Nothing is. But used alongside a proper detox foundation (clean food, clean home, clean sleep, clean mindset), it can move the needle in ways that surprise people.
